PROPOSED 12 STORY, 720,000 SF DATA CENTER NEAR MCCORMICK PLACE
Planned adjacent to Digital Realty Trust’s 350 E. Cermak building, will be a new multi-story data center that will be unique in a dense and diverse urban context. Located within a mile of Chicago’s lakefront and in one of the most interconnected data fiber hubs in the U.S., this Tier III mission critical facility boasts a hardened exterior building envelope consisting of architectural precast concrete, masonry veneer, and glass. The secure shell is planned to support over 300,000 SF of server space, office space, interior generators, a mechanical chiller penthouse, underground parking, underground fuel storage tanks, and a roof designed to contain cooling towers and other equipment. Green strategies include a green roof, an exterior vertical green wall, a pedestrian park, energy efficient cooling strategies, and LEED Silver Certification.
Upon completion, this facility will advance the city’s technology plan of becoming a City fueled by technology and will solidify Chicago as one of the world’s leading cities in technology.
